If you’ve ever had heartburn, you know how awful it can be. It can really make it hard to enjoy yourself when you’ve got that constant burning sensation going on. I used to suffer from heartburn in my 20’s, before I cleaned up my diet and made a commitment to getting healthier, so I know how much it stinks! If you have heartburn, I urge you to take a look at your diet and lifestyle with your healthcare practitioner. Often, it can be a result of a food intolerance, overeating, eating the wrong foods and/or other issues that can be cured without medication. In my opinion, it’s always better to determine the cause, rather than simply take medication to cover up the symptoms. That being said, if you do suffer from heartburn, here are a few essential oils you can use to help support your body naturally.
Lemon Essential Oil
- Place 1-2 drops of lemon EO on your tongue and “swish” to swallow. The swishing helps tell you stomach to stop producing acid, while the lemon helps to alkalize the body.
- Add 1-2 drops of lemon EO to your water before and during a meal. This can aid the body with digestion.
Peppermint Essential Oil
- Add 1-2 drops of peppermint EO to 1 tsp of raw, organic honey and mix with warm water to make a tea.
Ginger Essential Oil
- Add 2-4 drops of ginger EO to 1 cup of hot water, allow it to sit for 30 minutes, then drink it 20 minutes before your meal. Ginger aids with digestion and blocks acid production.
As with any health condition, be sure to consult your physician if you have chronic issues.
